leader in tissue paper for 30 years

Eurovast has been a leader in tissue paper for 30 years thanks to research and sustainability

Over thirty years of experience, with an eye to innovation and sustainability without ever forgetting the attention to the territory of which it is an expression: we are talking about Eurovast, a leader in the world of tissue paper (used for the production of toilet paper, tissues, napkins, etc.) in Lucca and Italy, with almost 300 employees and ten facilities between factories and paper mills. << The group – explains General Manager Umberto Romano – was born and grows within the light of sustainability, above all the social one; this has been transformed into the rebirth of some local companies, which thanks to Eurovast have come back to new life. In 2024 a new plant for finished products was opened in Pescia, always keeping the impact on the environment in mind, in fact, at the plant there will be started a 3-megawatt facility capable of supporting the total production cycle. And in 2025 another processing plant will be opened, also in Italy, with the aim of greater proximity to customers, significantly reducing the kilometres travelled by road transport and therefore CO2 emissions>>. Much of EuroVast’s action on the theme of attention to environmental resources can be highlighted thanks to the first sustainability report, covering the year 2023, in which important results are highlighted, including: 150,000 tons of paper produced per year, 291 employees (+11% compared to 2022); regarding waste management, a -5% of waste generated while the use of energy from renewable sources is highlighted by the 10,000 square meters of solar panels in the Toringo plant. But that is not all, as Romano explains: <<98% of the materials used by EuroVast are renewable. Virgin cellulose accounts for 70% (100,000 tonnes) of renewable materials. In addition, among the renewable materials used for packaging, we have 36,400 tons of paper (25% of the total) and 3,795 tons of cardboard (3% of the total). EuroVast consciously manages its materials, favouring the use of renewable resources to minimize the environmental impact>>. The EuroVast Group is therefore a leader in the tissue paper production panorama, offering a quality and innovative product, also thanks to its many years of experience in the sector. Based in Lucca, in the largest paper district of Europe, the group has a production capacity distributed in 5 paper mills, producing 150,000 tons of paper annually, and a processing capacity distributed in 5 converting plants, three of which are in Italy, one in Liverpool (UK) and one in Oss (Netherlands). Thanks to the location of the company in the territory of Lucca, where paper processing has ancient origins due to the wealth of water offered, EuroVast has become one of the leading companies in Italy in the tissue sector. In recent days the company has attended MIAC, the paper fair in the district of Lucca, where new trends and ideas for the future emerge.

THE COMPANY

The supply chain and plants.

EuroVast is vertically integrated and controls all stages of the production process. In addition to the production activity, the primary activities include internal and external logistics, sales and quality control. The primary support activities include procurement, R & D and marketing. Specifically, the mother reels produced in the paper mills are processed at the group’s plants (in Italy, the Netherlands and UK) to produce and market toilet and household paper products such as toilet paper, kitchen paper, napkins and other finished products. These are mainly resold in Europe, either in the industrial market, also called ‘away-from-home’ (which includes, for example, bars, restaurants, hotels, etc.) or in the ‘consumer’ market (which includes mainly the large-scale distribution and discount), intended for the end user.
